Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a rather attractive fellow. I sketched this drawing using a reference picture of his early days. I really like the pose - it's mysterious, it's dark, it's alluring.

Oh, lovely smudge brush how I love thee. You , and only you, possess the power to turn sketchy pictures into smooth acrylic paintings. At a price.
My wrist still hurts after 2 hours of careful smudging.
This was the first digital painting I did with the smudging technique and I must say, even though it takes time, it's worth it in the end, because the lines become smooth and the that gives the picture a professional feel.
The technique is simple: Smudge in the directions of the pencil lines, duplicate the layer, set blending mode to burn and repeat (the duplication) if necessary to improve the contrast. It doesn't seem to work well with pen lineart at all though.
